PTSD
Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder happens when we have experienced a scary situation that
feels life-threatening to you or to those around you, and in which you
felt helpless; unable to save yourself or others.
Symptoms of PTSD
may include not being able to sleep well, having unsettling dreams, having
intrusive thoughts or memories, being jittery or startling easily, or
feeling angry or anxious. You may be avoiding situations that could
remind you of the troubling event, or even feeling numb or disconnected.
Sometimes people
try to cope with these feelings by self-medicating through drugs or alcohol.
Heart-Centered
Hypnotherapy has been shown to be very effective at resolving the symptoms
of PTSD, even in Iraq war veterans ("Hypnotherapy
under Fire: Efficacy of Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy in the Treatment of Iraq
War Veterans with Posttraumatic Stress",
by Major Jeffrey Scott Yarvis, PhD, published in the Journal of
Heart-Centered Therapies, Volume 11, Number 1; Spring 2008, page 3.
Many of the
symptoms listed above are the effect of the trauma being "burned" into the
central nervous system. In effect, the central nervous system is in
shock, or stuck in an "ON" mode.
Heart-Centered
Hypnotherapy allows you to access those symptoms that are deeply buried in
the nervous system, and release them, both physically and emotionally. You are able to soothe the symptoms, and feel empowered again, more in
control of your own life.
Cranial-Sacral Reiki may allow the brain to begin to settle down.
Somatic
re-empowerment work helps the body to release the charges that were
'burned' into the nervous system.
